Article Submission Guidelines
Journal of Asian Mission
Author Guidelines
The JAM accepts articles previously unpublished (not under consideration for any other publication at the same time). Submissions may be made at any time for consideration for future publication and are subject to double-blind peer reviewer before editorial approval.
The JAM focuses on evangelical mission efforts in Asia. Articles deal with mission history, contemporary evangelism and discipleship efforts, contextualization, church growth, and Asian contextual theologies. Preference is given to Asian authors, although non-Asians working among or with Asians are welcome to submit to JAM. Articles should be between 3,000 and 5,000 words (not including footnotes and bibliography).
Articles may be submitted to the editor-in-chief, Cameron Armstrong, at cameron@ats.ph.
Formatting
Please use the most recent edition of the Chicago Style for guidelines on using bias-free language and on formatting the text, tables, figures, references, metrics and the abstract. Below are some summaries:
Font: use 12 point Times New Roman except when using special fonts (when using a non-Roman script, for example). All fonts must be Unicode.
Spacing: Double-space all text including references and block quotes.
Margins: Use 1 inch margins on all sides.
Block quotes (any citation over 40 words): Indent the text 1/2 inch, without quotation marks
Abstract: Include an abstract of 100 to 150 words. Include three to five keywords.
Avoid the passive voice.
Pictures and Figures: Insert the pictures or figures directly into the proper space in your article. You must indicate that you secured permission to use pictures or figures from another work.
Tables: Tables should be created in your word-processing program and should be included in the proper space within your article.
Footnotes: Cite the full citation at the bottom of the page. Include one space between the footnote number and the text.
Level headings: Use Chicago heading styles, to show the organization of your article.
Bibliography: Use Chicago formatting for the Bibliography section following the article. Insert a Page Break between the final paragraph and the Bibliography.
Author Information: Include a 2-3 sentence biography of yourself, including your name, where you live, position/role, institution, and email address.
